H.B. No. 1645
AN ACT
relating to the designation of United States Highway 80 in this 
state as the World War II Veterans Memorial Highway.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, 
is amended by adding Section 225.0285 to read as follows:
	Sec. 225.0285.  WORLD WAR II VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY.  (a)  
The part of United States Highway 80 located in this state is 
designated as the World War II Veterans Memorial Highway.
	(b)  The department shall design and construct memorial 
markers indicating the highway number, the designation as the World 
War II Veterans Memorial Highway, and any other appropriate 
information.
	(c)  Except as provided by Subsection (d), the department 
shall erect a marker at each end of the highway and at each county 
line crossed by the highway.
	(d)  The department is not required to design, construct, or 
erect a marker under this section unless a grant or donation of 
private funds is made to the department to cover the cost of the 
design, construction, and erection of the marker.
	(e)  Money received under Subsection (d) shall be deposited 
to the credit of the state highway fund.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
