A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an investigation unit within the Health and Human |
|
|
Services Commission for certain unlicensed child-care facilities. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 531, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 531.0084 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 531.0084. INVESTIGATION UNIT FOR UNLICENSED |
|
|
CHILD-CARE FACILITIES. (a) The executive commissioner shall |
|
|
maintain a unit within the child-care licensing division of the |
|
|
commission consisting of investigators whose primary |
|
|
responsibility is to identify unlicensed child-care facilities and |
|
|
to initiate appropriate enforcement actions against those |
|
|
facilities. |
|
|
(b) The executive commissioner shall assign at least 35 |
|
|
full-time equivalent positions for the unit described by Subsection |
|
|
(a). |
|
|
SECTION 2. As soon as possible after the effective date of |
|
|
this Act, the executive commissioner of the Health and Human |
|
|
Services Commission shall establish the investigation unit |
|
|
required by Section 531.0084, Government Code, as added by this |
|
|
Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
