SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 4
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Gary Lynn Snowden Sr.
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Bastrop County in mourning the loss of Gary Lynn
  "Bubba" Snowden Sr., who died January 3, 2019, at the age of
  73; and
 
         WHEREAS, Bubba Snowden was a beloved public servant who was
  known for his kind smile, his love of animals, and his devotion to
  God, family, and community; and
 
         WHEREAS, Bubba was born on June 11, 1945, to Gladys and
  Oscar Snowden; he was raised in Elgin, Texas, where he completed
  his primary and secondary education, and he furthered his
  academic studies at Sam Houston State University and Texas State
  University; he served his country with distinction during the
  Vietnam War; and
 
         WHEREAS, For more than 40 years, Bubba and his brothers
  were owners and operators of the successful family business,
  Oscar Snowden, Incorporated; Bubba retired in 2001 to work
  full-time at his Elgin ranch and to care for rental properties
  and spend more time with loved ones; he transitioned to public
  service in 2012, when he was elected Bastrop County Commissioner
  for Precinct 4, and he was reelected to the position for two
  additional terms; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mr. Snowden's hands-on approach to life was
  reflected in his six years of leadership as commissioner; during
  his tenure, he was admired for personally responding to public
  inquiries and for prioritizing daily visits to county offices and
  the local animal shelter; he is credited with making Precinct 4
  improvements that benefited area residents and will continue to
  benefit the entire community long into the future; and
 
         WHEREAS, Bubba shared a life of devotion with his cherished
  wife, Donna Snowden; he was blessed with two children, the late
  Gary Lynn Snowden Jr. and Tracy Snowden Ortiz, a son-in-law,
  Pascual Ortiz, and two granddaughters, Charlie and Paloma, who
  enriched his life immeasurably; and
 
         WHEREAS, Bubba Snowden was noted for his generous spirit
  and his work ethic and for his high standards and family values;
  he lived his life to the fullest, and he leaves behind memories
  that will be treasured forever by all who were privileged to
  share in his life; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Gary Lynn Snowden Sr.; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Gary Snowden.
