SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 290
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Peggy Joyce Jeffreys Wood
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of the late Peggy Joyce Jeffreys Wood; and
         WHEREAS, Peggy Wood was born on January 11, 1934, in Wake
  County, North Carolina, to Willie Russell Jeffreys and Janie Sue
  Myatt; she lived with her beloved aunt and uncle, Iris and Dave
  Dallas, during her teenage years; and
         WHEREAS, She and her first husband, Ashley Britt, were
  blessed with three children, Kevin Lynn Britt and the late Donald
  and Steven Britt; she later married Irvin Wood, and they were
  blessed with a daughter, Lisa Ivie Miller; and
         WHEREAS, She pursued numerous professional opportunities
  through the years, including owning and operating a Diamond
  Shamrock gas station and working with the Amarillo Globe-News;
  she especially took great pleasure in her work at the Amarillo
  Senior Citizens Center; and
         WHEREAS, After her retirement, she moved to Austin to be
  close to her daughter and her family; she was blessed with six
  grandchildren, who knew her as TuTu and who were a source of much
  pride and joy for her; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and generosity, she
  gave unselfishly to others, and her enthusiasm for living each
  day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, She was devoted to her family, and she leaves
  behind memories that will be cherished forever by all who were
  privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Peggy Joyce Jeffreys Wood; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Peggy Joyce Jeffreys Wood.
