SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 48
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Gwendolyn Fay Satterfield Barjon
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Gwendolyn Fay Satterfield Barjon, who
  died April 22, 2020, at the age of 61; and
         WHEREAS, Gwendolyn Satterfield was born on September 25,
  1958, in Chicago; she grew up in a strong household with the
  values of hard work, respect, and faith, and she graduated from
  Lindblom Technical High School in 1976; and
         WHEREAS, She earned a degree from Grinnell College in Iowa
  in 1980, and she later returned to school and earned her master of
  science degree in education from The University of Texas at
  Dallas; and
         WHEREAS, Gwen married her trusted friend, Paul Barjon, on
  January 2, 1988; she served as a research assistant at The
  University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, and she later
  became a teacher at Saint Philip's School and Community Center;
  during her 28-year career at the school, she served as a science
  teacher, a principal, and a director of Science and Innovation;
  she and Paul were blessed with three children and a
  granddaughter; and
         WHEREAS, Gwen enjoyed singing throughout her life and was
  admired for her angelic voice; she took great joy in singing at
  school functions and in the choir at Saint Luke's Community
  United Methodist Church, and she later became a member of Antioch
  Missionary Baptist Church; she greatly enjoyed time spent
  traveling and cooking and harvesting food that she grew in her
  expansive organic garden; and
         WHEREAS, Gwendolyn was guided in all things by her faith
  and her love of family; she was a treasured member of the Dallas
  community, and she leaves behind memories that will long be
  cherished by all who were privileged to share in her life; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere
  condolences to the bereaved family of Gwendolyn Fay Satterfield
  Barjon; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Gwendolyn Barjon.
