A JOINT RESOLUTION
proposing a constitutional amendment requiring this state to |
observe daylight saving time year-round. |
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
SECTION 1. Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is amended by |
adding Section 74 to read as follows: |
Sec. 74. (a) This state, if authorized by federal law, |
shall observe daylight saving time year-round throughout the state. |
(b) This section applies to all portions of the state, |
regardless of time zone. |
(c) Subsections (a) and (b) of this section apply only if |
the United States Congress enacts legislation that becomes law that |
authorizes this state to observe daylight saving time as prescribed |
by this section. If such federal legislation becomes law, |
Subsections (a) and (b) of this section apply beginning on the first |
date, after the date that federal law takes effect, on which this |
state would otherwise have switched from observing daylight saving |
time to observing standard time. |
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2022. |
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
proposition: "The constitutional amendment requiring this state to |
observe daylight saving time year-round." |
