R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas Terry of Lexington represented his namesake |
|
state with great distinction by winning the title in the |
|
under-eight division at the 2021 U.S. Kids Golf World Championship |
|
tournament, held July 29 to 31 in Southern Pines, North Carolina; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Competing alongside 120 golfers from around the |
|
world, Mr. Terry turned in an exceptional performance, tallying a |
|
three-day total of 108 strokes over 27 holes; he opened with a |
|
tournament-best round of 34 and followed it up the next day with a |
|
38, which placed him in a tie for first place entering the final |
|
round; with the crown on the line, he carded a 36 to capture the |
|
under-eight championship by one stroke; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Terry's exciting victory followed close on the |
|
heels of an impressive showing earlier in the week at the |
|
Parent/Child World Championship at Longleaf Golf and Family Club, |
|
where he teamed with his father, Jim Terry; the duo recorded a round |
|
of 27 that included a remarkable pair of eagles and six birdies to |
|
win the one-day event by three strokes; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through hard work and an unwavering commitment to |
|
excellence, Texas Terry has proven himself one of the best young |
|
golfers in the country, and he may reflect with pride on his |
|
outstanding accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Texas Terry on |
|
winning the 2021 U.S. Kids Golf World Championship in the |
|
under-eight division and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Terry as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
