R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic School in Port Lavaca
  celebrated its 25th anniversary on August 14, 2021; and
         WHEREAS, Founded by Father Dan Morales in 1996, OLG was
  established in the former School of Religious Education building at
  Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church; the school initially served 43
  children in kindergarten through sixth grade, and within the next
  five years, classes were added for pre-K, seventh grade, and eighth
  grade students; and
         WHEREAS, Today, OLG benefits from the able guidance of
  Principal Theresa Dent, who has led the school since 2004; the
  campus includes 11 classrooms and a number of facilities, such as a
  library, a computer lab, and multiple playgrounds, as well as a gym
  and performing arts center; currently, more than 120 students are
  enrolled at the school; and
         WHEREAS, OLG was fully accredited by the Texas Catholic
  Conference of Bishops Education Department in 2007; among its many
  accolades, the school was named a 2011 Small Business of the Year by
  the Port Lavaca Chamber of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, For the past quarter century, the faculty and staff
  of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic School have committed themselves to
  meeting the educational needs of their students, and the school has
  played a vital role in helping many young Texans build a bright and
  prosperous future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 25th
  anniversary of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic School and extend to
  all those associated with the institution sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
