R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Colonel Carlos Tamez is retiring as commander of the
  3rd Medical Training Brigade at Joint Base San Antonio on
  October 16, 2021, drawing to a close an exemplary career in the
  service of his nation that has spanned more than three decades; and
         WHEREAS, Carlos Tamez is an alumnus of Texas A&M University,
  where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1990 and was commissioned
  through the Army ROTC program; he entered military service as part
  of the Simultaneous Membership Program and received extensive
  training through the Northern Warfare School, army flight school,
  air assault school, and other courses; his early assignments
  included flying disaster relief missions in Guyana, South America,
  and participating in peacekeeping efforts in Bosnia and
  Herzegovina; and
         WHEREAS, In 2003, Colonel Tamez deployed with the 82nd
  Airborne Division in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and he
  went on to oversee medical evacuation support missions that
  successfully transported nearly 2,000 patients out of the
  battlefield; he has served in a variety of other leadership
  positions throughout his career, and he assumed his most recent
  role as commander of the 3rd Medical Training Brigade at JBSA on
  December 8, 2019; in the course of his duties, he has also commanded
  the 7306th Medical Exercise Support Battalion in the Medical
  Readiness and Training Command; and
         WHEREAS, Colonel Tamez is the recipient of numerous awards
  and decorations, among them two Bronze Star Medals, two Meritorious
  Service Medals, and the Combat Action Badge, and he is a member of
  the U.S. Army Cavalry Order of the Spur and the Order of Military
  Medical Merit; in all his endeavors, he enjoys the love and support
  of his wife, Patricia Tamez, and their children, Celeste and Aaron;
  and
         WHEREAS, Carlos Tamez has embodied the highest ideals of the
  United States armed forces throughout his distinguished military
  career, and he may indeed reflect with pride on all that he has
  accomplished in this nation's behalf; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Colonel
  Carlos Tamez on his retirement as commander of the 3rd Medical
  Training Brigade at Joint Base San Antonio and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Colonel Tamez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
