R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The second annual Battle on the Border BBQ Cookoff |
|
|
is taking place in Elsa on October 8 and 9, 2021; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the Champions Barbecue Alliance, the |
|
|
competition brings together accomplished pitmasters from across |
|
|
the state who put their skills to the test as they vie to produce the |
|
|
tastiest entries in several different categories; guests have the |
|
|
opportunity to sample a variety of savory dishes while enjoying a |
|
|
fun, family-oriented day that also includes live music, children's |
|
|
activities, food vendors, and a beer garden; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This much-anticipated event serves as a fundraiser |
|
|
for the Be the Change Jose E. Garza Memorial Scholarship Fund, which |
|
|
supports students from the Rio Grande Valley in their pursuit of |
|
|
higher education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and the |
|
|
Battle on the Border BBQ Cookoff is sure to offer everyone in |
|
|
attendance the chance to enjoy good food and good times while |
|
|
benefiting a worthy cause; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 2021 Battle |
|
|
on the Border BBQ Cookoff and extend to the organizers, |
|
|
contestants, and attendees sincere best wishes for a fun and |
|
|
successful event. |
