R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dennis M. Allen is retiring from the Hardin County
  Sheriff's Office in October 2021, drawing to a close a rewarding
  career in public service that has spanned five and a half decades;
  and
         WHEREAS, A native of Silsbee, Mr. Allen joined the U.S. Army
  in 1966 and served with distinction during a combat tour in Vietnam;
  after three years in the military, he was honorably discharged at
  the rank of specialist; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Allen subsequently became a law enforcement
  officer, joining the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police
  Department in 1969; during his tenure there, he served as a patrol
  officer, an undercover detective, and a member of the Civil
  Disturbance Unit; in 1973, he accepted a position with the Silsbee
  Police Department, and he eventually led the agency as the chief of
  police; after a brief stint as a sheriff's deputy in Hardin County,
  he became a member of the Polk County Sheriff's Office, where he
  spent a decade as the captain of detectives; he returned to the
  Hardin County Sheriff's Office in 2011, starting out as a deputy and
  rising through the ranks to sergeant and later to major of criminal
  investigations; known for his integrity and dedication to
  protecting and serving the public, he has mentored numerous new
  officers, many of whom have gone on to become supervisors and
  administrators; and
         WHEREAS, For more than a half century, Dennis Allen has
  exemplified the highest ideals of the law enforcement profession,
  and he may indeed reflect with pride on his notable record of
  achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dennis
  M. Allen on his retirement from the Hardin County Sheriff's Office
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Allen as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
