R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The HL RadioTV 106.5 FM and 30.6 TV annual Lunar New |
|
|
Year celebration at Ben Thanh Plaza in Arlington has become a highly |
|
|
anticipated local tradition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Formerly known as Dallas Vietnamese Radio, HL |
|
|
RadioTV 106.5 FM and 30.6 TV is the first radio and television |
|
|
station to serve the North Texas Vietnamese community around the |
|
|
clock and all year long; from its studios in the Ben Thanh Plaza in |
|
|
East Arlington, HL RadioTV broadcasts news from Dallas, Houston, |
|
|
and California five times a day during the week, while also |
|
|
providing its listeners with contemporary and classical music, |
|
|
interviews with notable people, sports coverage, and other |
|
|
informative and entertaining programming; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The station has held a Lunar New Year celebration |
|
|
each year since 2004; embracing the cultures of China, Korea, |
|
|
Vietnam, and other countries, the festival, which begins with the |
|
|
first new moon of the lunar calendar, is one of the most important |
|
|
religious and cultural events for people of Asian heritage; this |
|
|
special holiday ushers in the spring season, when members of the |
|
|
Asian community reflect on the past and make plans for the future, |
|
|
and it is celebrated with a variety of vibrant traditions that are |
|
|
intended to bring prosperity, good health, and happiness to oneself |
|
|
and others; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the HL RadioTV 106.5 FM and |
|
|
30.6 TV Lunar New Year celebration has been a popular gathering for |
|
|
area residents, and it contributes greatly to the cultural |
|
|
diversity and richness of North Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the HL RadioTV |
|
|
106.5 FM and 30.6 TV annual Lunar New Year celebration and extend to |
|
|
the organizers and attendees sincere best wishes for a meaningful |
|
|
and memorable event; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for HL RadioTV 106.5 FM and 30.6 TV as an expression of |
|
|
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
