R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Texas Business Women of San Antonio is celebrating
  its 100th anniversary in 2021 and 2022, and this represents a
  fitting opportunity to pay tribute to the organization's many
  contributions; and
         WHEREAS, Originally known as Business and Professional Women
  of San Antonio, the group was founded in the early 1920s at the
  St. Anthony Hotel by 50 women representing 31 different
  professions, at a time when few such organizations existed for
  women; from the start, the organization has sought to foster mutual
  support and fellowship among professional women while also
  providing training and creating opportunities for future
  generations of women in the San Antonio area, whether they are
  business owners, employed by someone else, self-employed, or
  transitioning into or out of the workforce; and
         WHEREAS, Over the years, TBW of San Antonio has helped women
  grow their careers through education and community outreach; it has
  mentored middle school girls and tutored women in public speaking
  skills through its Communicating with Confidence program, and in
  1972, the organization advocated for the passage of the Equal
  Rights Amendment to the Texas Constitution; the group has also
  generously contributed to area nonprofits, purchased school
  supplies for students, and helped organize holiday celebrations for
  senior citizens; and
         WHEREAS, Since its inception, TBW of San Antonio has
  supported countless women in their professional endeavors, and its
  members may indeed take great pride in their outstanding record of
  achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the centennial
  of Texas Business Women of San Antonio and extend to all those
  associated with the organization sincere best wishes for continued
  success in their important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
