R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For more than six decades, the Fort Worth chapter of
  The Links, Incorporated, has demonstrated an unwavering commitment
  to bettering the quality of life of area residents; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1946, The Links is a volunteer service
  organization for professional women who are dedicated to enriching
  the culture of African Americans and other persons of African
  ancestry and improving their economic status; it has a membership
  of more than 16,000 women of color in 288 chapters across the
  country and in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of the
  Bahamas; and
         WHEREAS, The business and civic leaders, mentors, role
  models, and activists of this nonprofit corporation volunteer over
  one million hours annually in projects to strengthen their
  communities and make a positive difference in the lives of others;
  through the years, the group has received awards from such
  organizations as the United Nations Association of New York and the
  Leon H. Sullivan Foundation; and
         WHEREAS, Since its establishment on December 5, 1959, the
  Fort Worth chapter has provided financial and volunteer support to
  a variety of worthy organizations and endeavors, among them the
  Arts Council of Fort Worth, the Urban League, the NAACP, and Habitat
  for Humanity; the chapter's many initiatives include a scholarship
  program for minority female high school students, HeartLinks to
  Heart Health, a campaign promoting healthy lifestyles and offering
  information about cardiovascular disease, and its nationally
  recognized umbrella project, the EMPRESS Program for Girls, which
  is focused on improving college readiness in the STEM fields; and
         WHEREAS, The Fort Worth Chapter of The Links, Incorporated,
  has made a profound impact in the lives of countless people in North
  Texas and beyond, and its members may take justifiable pride in
  their exemplary efforts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the members of the
  Fort Worth chapter of The Links, Incorporated, for their service to
  the community and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
  success with their important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the chapter as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
