H.R. No. 250
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, McCade Smith and Tatum Neuwirth of Panhandle High
  School have distinguished themselves through their participation
  in the 2021 University Interscholastic League Cross-Examination
  Policy Debate State Meet; and
         WHEREAS, The UIL state meet is one of the largest high school
  debate tournaments in the nation, and this year's event was held
  virtually; the league's longest-running contest, its origins trace
  back to 1910, when a small group of debate coaches met in Abilene to
  establish an interscholastic forensic program; since then, the
  competition has helped countless students develop skills in public
  speaking and debate; and
         WHEREAS, Facing off against other top debate students from
  across Texas, McCade Smith and Tatum Neuwirth turned in a
  commendable performance at the state competition; led by instructor
  Sheryl Oliver, the pair previously won second place in the 2A
  cross-examination qualifiers to secure their spot at the state
  meet; and
         WHEREAS, By earning the right to compete in the state's
  premier high school debate competition, these bright young Texans
  have ably represented their school and community, and the
  dedication they have demonstrated is sure to serve them well in the
  years ahead; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend McCade Smith and
  Tatum Neuwirth on their participation in the UIL Cross-Examination
  Policy Debate State Meet and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Smith and Ms. Neuwirth as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
