CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Billy Ray Herring of Quitman on June 18, 2021, at the age |
|
of 82; and |
|
WHEREAS, A Quitman native, Bill Herring was born on March 6, |
|
1939, to Tobie and Lois Herring; he graduated from Quitman High |
|
School in 1957, and he went on to attend Tyler Junior College; and |
|
WHEREAS, After serving in the engineering department at the |
|
Murray Gin Company in Dallas, Mr. Herring embarked on a 35-year |
|
career with the U.S. Postal Service; he also worked as a rancher, |
|
and in his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, drag racing, |
|
and playing basketball; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Herring benefited from the |
|
love and support of his wife, Jane, with whom he shared a rewarding |
|
marriage that spanned nearly six decades; he took great pride in |
|
their children, Susan and John, and with the passing years, he had |
|
the pleasure of welcoming into his family three grandchildren, |
|
Tobie, Elizabeth, and Millie; and |
|
WHEREAS, A caring and hardworking man, Bill Herring will be |
|
deeply missed, and those who held him dear will forever remember the |
|
warmth and kindness he brought into their lives; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 87th Legislature of the State of Texas, |
|
3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Billy Ray |
|
Herring and extend sincere condolences to the members of his |
|
family: to his wife, Jane Herring; to his children, Susan Phillips |
|
and John Herring and his wife, Lindsey; to his grandchildren, Tobie |
|
Herring, Elizabeth Herring, and Millie Jordan; and to his other |
|
relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of |
|
Bill Herring. |
