SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Mary Stroube Adams, who died July 6, |
|
2021, at the age of 79; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mary Adams was an exemplary citizen and a |
|
dedicated a educator, and her sincere concern for each of her |
|
students and her eagerness to serve as a mentor had a profound |
|
impact on the lives of countless young people; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mary was born on June 6, 1942; she graduated from |
|
Abilene High School, and she earned a bachelor's degree from |
|
Stanford University and a master's degree from the University of |
|
Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, She enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an |
|
English and humanities teacher and as an administrator with the |
|
Temple Independent School District; her administrative positions |
|
included serving as a curriculum coordinator and a dean of |
|
instruction; however, she also continued to work as a classroom |
|
teacher throughout her career in the district; and |
|
WHEREAS, She took part in multiple cultural exchange |
|
programs in the Soviet Union and Russia and in study and research |
|
trips in France and the Amazon River basin; her many honors |
|
included the State of Texas Outstanding Teacher of the Humanities |
|
Award and the Rotary Club Educator of the Year; in 2000, Temple |
|
High School established the Mary S. Adams Award, an award that is |
|
voted on by students to honor teachers who have had an important |
|
impact on the school; and |
|
WHEREAS, A woman of wisdom and generosity, Mary Adams gave |
|
unselfishly to others, and she will long be remembered for her |
|
radiant smile, her caring spirit, and her enthusiasm for living |
|
each day to the fullest; and |
|
WHEREAS, She was devoted to her children and extended |
|
family, and she leaves behind memories that will be cherished |
|
forever by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere |
|
condolences to the bereaved family of Mary Stroube Adams; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Mary Adams. |
