SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 85
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Carlos David Ortiz
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Carlos David Ortiz, who died
  August 31, 2021, at the age of 64; and
         WHEREAS, An esteemed Texan, David Ortiz was a dedicated
  peace officer, and he inspired his friends, colleagues, and loved
  ones through his generous spirit, his love of family, and his
  devotion to his community; and
         WHEREAS, David was born in Galveston on July 15, 1957; in
  his younger years, he worked as a trucker, a mechanic, and a
  firefighter, and in 1996, he began a career in law enforcement;
  after working for several agencies, he was honored to serve as a
  member of the Colorado County Sheriff's Office in Columbus,
  Texas; and
         WHEREAS, David was a loving husband to Olga Ortiz, and he
  was blessed with three children, Vanessa, Abigail, and Donovan,
  and with two stepchildren, Kris Rivera and Kristi Hahn; his
  grandchildren, Ayden Ortiz, Cordae Crist, and Kenzie Hahn were a
  source of great pride for him; and
         WHEREAS, David Ortiz had a heart for public service, and he
  was a cherished friend and mentor to many; he will long be
  remembered with respect and admiration by all who were privileged
  to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
  condolences to the bereaved family of Carlos David Ortiz; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Carlos Ortiz.
