SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Carlos David Ortiz, who died August 31, |
|
2021, at the age of 64; and |
|
WHEREAS, An esteemed Texan, David Ortiz was a dedicated |
|
peace officer, and he inspired his friends, colleagues, and loved |
|
ones through his generous spirit, his love of family, and his |
|
devotion to his community; and |
|
WHEREAS, David was born in Galveston on July 15, 1957; in |
|
his younger years, he worked as a trucker, a mechanic, and a |
|
firefighter, and in 1996, he began a career in law enforcement; |
|
after working for several agencies, he was honored to serve as a |
|
member of the Colorado County Sheriff's Office in Columbus, |
|
Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, David was a loving husband to Olga Ortiz, and he |
|
was blessed with three children, Vanessa, Abigail, and Donovan, |
|
and with two stepchildren, Kris Rivera and Kristi Hahn; his |
|
grandchildren, Ayden Ortiz, Cordae Crist, and Kenzie Hahn were a |
|
source of great pride for him; and |
|
WHEREAS, David Ortiz had a heart for public service, and he |
|
was a cherished friend and mentor to many; he will long be |
|
remembered with respect and admiration by all who were privileged |
|
to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere |
|
condolences to the bereaved family of Carlos David Ortiz; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Carlos Ortiz. |
