S.B. 1167 |

Committee Report (Unamended) |
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
During the summer of 2016, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality created the Anthem Municipal Utility District, which was confirmed by election later that year. Recently, the City of Austin and The Nature Conservancy purchased approximately 250 acres within the district's boundaries. Since that property will no longer be part of the development project, there have been calls to redefine the territory and boundaries of the district to omit that property. S.B. 1167 seeks to address this issue by providing for the district's territory and boundaries.

ANALYSIS
S.B. 1167 amends the Special District Local Laws Code to establish the territory and boundaries of the Anthem Municipal Utility District. The bill authorizes the district to rely on a previously held election for the approval to issue bonds payable in whole or in part from taxes after the exclusion of territory described by the bill.
