A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to open meetings of the governing body of a charter holder |
|
|
and the governing body of an open-enrollment charter school. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 12.1051, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) The governing body of a charter holder and the governing |
|
|
body of an open-enrollment charter school shall: |
|
|
(1) hold each open meeting within the geographical |
|
|
area served by the school; and |
|
|
(2) in the manner prescribed by Section 551.128, |
|
|
Government Code, broadcast the open meeting over the Internet if |
|
|
the school includes campuses that are located in noncontiguous |
|
|
municipalities. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to |
|
|
an open meeting held on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
