A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the suspension of the license of a dishonorably |
discharged law enforcement officer. |
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
SECTION 1. Section 1701.4521(a), Occupations Code, is |
amended to read as follows: |
(a) The commission shall suspend the license of an officer |
licensed under this chapter on notification that the officer has |
been dishonorably discharged [if the officer has previously been |
dishonorably discharged from another law enforcement agency]. |
SECTION 2. (a) In this section, "dishonorably discharged" |
has the meaning assigned by Section 1701.452, Occupations Code. |
(b) Section 1701.4521(a), Occupations Code, as amended by |

this Act, applies only to the suspension of a license issued under |

governed by the law as it existed immediately before the effective |
date of this Act, and that law is continued in effect for that |
purpose. |
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
