A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the name of the statewide alert system for certain |
|
|
missing adults. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. This Act honors the victims of violence whose |
|
|
lives and stories led to the passage into law of the CLEAR Alert for |
|
|
Missing Adults: Cayley Mandadi, D'Lisa Kelley, Erin Castro, Ashanti |
|
|
Billie, and the rest. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The heading to Subchapter Q, Chapter 411, |
|
|
Government Code, as added by Chapter 227 (H.B. 1769), Acts of the |
|
|
86th Legislature, Regular Session, 2019, is amended to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
SUBCHAPTER Q. COORDINATED LAW ENFORCEMENT ADULT RESCUE (CLEAR) |
|
|
ALERT FOR MISSING ADULTS |
|
|
SECTION 3. Section 411.461(2), Government Code, as added by |
|
|
Chapter 227 (H.B. 1769), Acts of the 86th Legislature, Regular |
|
|
Session, 2019, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(2) "Alert" means the statewide Coordinated Law |
|
|
Enforcement Adult Rescue (CLEAR) alert for missing adults that is |
|
|
developed and implemented under this subchapter. |
|
|
SECTION 4. The heading to Section 411.462, Government Code, |
|
|
as added by Chapter 227 (H.B. 1769), Acts of the 86th Legislature, |
|
|
Regular Session, 2019, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 411.462. COORDINATED LAW ENFORCEMENT ADULT RESCUE |
|
|
(CLEAR) ALERT FOR MISSING ADULTS. |
|
|
SECTION 5. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
