A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the issuance of a wireless emergency alert after a |
|
|
statewide disaster declaration. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 418, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 418.1925 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 418.1925. WIRELESS EMERGENCY ALERTS. As soon as |
|
|
possible after the governor declares a statewide state of disaster, |
|
|
the Department of Public Safety shall request that the Federal |
|
|
Emergency Management Agency notify residents of this state of the |
|
|
disaster by issuing a wireless emergency alert to their mobile |
|
|
devices. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
