A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the composition of the statewide passenger rail system |
|
|
coordinated by the Texas Department of Transportation. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 201.6012, Transportation Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 201.6012. COORDINATION OF STATEWIDE PASSENGER RAIL |
|
|
SYSTEM. (a) To facilitate the development and interconnectivity |
|
|
of rail systems in this state, the department shall coordinate |
|
|
activities regarding the planning, construction, operation, and |
|
|
maintenance of a statewide passenger rail system. The department |
|
|
shall coordinate with other entities involved with passenger rail |
|
|
systems, including governmental entities, private entities, and |
|
|
nonprofit corporations. |
|
|
(b) A statewide passenger rail system described by |
|
|
Subsection (a) does not include high-speed rail as defined by |
|
|
Section 112.201. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
