A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to Texas Workforce Commission workforce counselors to |
|
|
provide public school students with career counseling. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. This Act shall be know as the Career Advancement |
|
|
Program Act. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 302.014, Labor Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) The commission shall provide the Texas Education Agency |
|
|
with workforce counselors in each of the 28 workforce local board |
|
|
areas to provide students with career counseling information |
|
|
surrounding current and projected employment opportunities in the |
|
|
workforce area and the state, career and technical education |
|
|
partnership opportunities with businesses, apprenticeship |
|
|
opportunities and paid internship opportunities. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
