A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the target planning reserve margin for ERCOT. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 39, Utilities Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 39.159 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 39.159. TARGET RESERVE MARGIN FOR ERCOT POWER REGION. |
|
|
(a) The independent organization certified under Section 39.151 |
|
|
for the ERCOT power region must adopt a target planning reserve |
|
|
margin for ERCOT of not less than 15 percent of peak electric |
|
|
demand. |
|
|
(b) The commission shall adopt rules as necessary to achieve |
|
|
and enforce the minimum target planning reserve margin required |
|
|
under Subsection (a). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
