R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Carmen Turner was sworn in as the Fort Bend County |
|
tax assessor-collector on January 1, 2021; and |
|
WHEREAS, In fulfilling the duties of her office, Ms. Turner |
|
will draw on her wealth of valuable experience as a business owner |
|
and from her 20 years in municipal, county, and state government; |
|
she earned a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from |
|
the University of Houston and a master's degree in public |
|
administration from Texas Southern University; in addition, she |
|
holds an associate degree in business from Houston Community |
|
College; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Turner is the cofounder of The Smith & Turner |
|
Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restorative |
|
justice and prison reform; through the foundation, she helps |
|
formerly incarcerated individuals secure their commercial driver |
|
license; for many years, she has also given of her time and talents |
|
to support area youth and senior citizens; and |
|
WHEREAS, A committed champion of her community, Carmen Turner |
|
can reflect with great pride on her contributions to the strength |
|
and prosperity of Fort Bend County as she takes on her new role as |
|
tax assessor-collector; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Carmen Turner on her election as |
|
Fort Bend County tax assessor-collector and extend to her sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Turner as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
