H.R. No. 101
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
  a close with the passing of Anne Newberry Bergman of Weatherford on
  November 4, 2020, at the age of 95; and
         WHEREAS, The former Anne Newberry was born in Weatherford on
  March 12, 1925, to William and Mary Newberry; she received a
  bachelor's degree in accounting from Trinity University in 1946,
  and the following year, she married Robert Bergman, whom she had met
  on a blind date; the couple shared a rewarding marriage that spanned
  seven decades, and they took great pride in their three children,
  Elizabeth, John, and William, and in their 11 grandchildren and 4
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Passionate about politics, Mrs. Bergman was a
  delegate to the Republican Party state convention beginning in
  1952, and she contributed her time and energy to a number of
  gubernatorial, congressional, and presidential campaigns; from
  1976 to 1977, she served as president of the Texas Federation of
  Republican Women; engaged in her local community as well, she held a
  city council seat and was a founding member of the Friends of the
  Weatherford Public Library; she attended All Saints' Anglican
  Church, and she played a key role in establishing the church's
  orphanage in Mexico; and
         WHEREAS, Above all else, Mrs. Bergman cherished time spent
  with her family, and she especially enjoyed traveling and sailing;
  she and her husband were also valued members of the Weatherford Wine
  and Food Society; and
         WHEREAS, While the passing of Anne Bergman brings great
  sadness to her loved ones, she leaves behind a legacy that will long
  be treasured by all those who held her dear; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Anne Newberry
  Bergman and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her family:
  to her daughter, Elizabeth Bozzell; to her sons, John Bergman and
  his wife, Nancy, and William Bergman and his wife, Melissa; to her
  grandchildren, Catherine, Carrie, Drew, Grant, Spencer, Brett,
  Ellen, Anne, Randi, and Riley; to her great-grandchildren, Noah,
  Abby, Halee, and Weston; and to her other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Anne
  Bergman.
