R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robin Elackatt was sworn in as mayor |
|
of Missouri City on December 21, 2020; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of India, Robin Elackatt moved to Chicago |
|
with his family when he was in the fifth grade; he first heeded the |
|
call to service in his 20s, when he was elected president of the |
|
Chicago Knanaya Catholic Youth League in 1992, and in 1994, he was |
|
elected as the first president of the Knanaya Catholic Youth League |
|
of North America; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 2005, Mr. Elackatt settled with his family in |
|
Missouri City and opened a construction business; he began serving |
|
his community as the vice chair of the parks board, and he has also |
|
been a board member and president of the Colony Lakes Homeowners |
|
Association; in addition, he and his family are congregants of |
|
St. Angela Merici Catholic Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Elackatt was elected in 2009 to the city council |
|
as the member for District C, and he ran unopposed for reelection in |
|
2011 and 2013; during his tenure on the council, he has been a |
|
strong advocate for the sidewalk repairs program, for establishing |
|
more fire stations and a police mini-station, and for balancing the |
|
budget; and |
|
WHEREAS, Robin Elackatt's dedication, hard work, and |
|
commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of |
|
Missouri City, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his |
|
achievements as he takes on the challenges and opportunities of his |
|
new position; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Robin Elackatt on his election as |
|
mayor of Missouri City and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
success in his important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mayor Elackatt as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
