R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and
  generosity of Kathryn Thompson of Miami, Texas, who passed away on
  February 5, 2021, at the age of 74; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Kathryn Adelia LaMaster and Samuel
  Jacob Judice, Kay Thompson was born on August 29, 1946, in Liberty,
  and she grew up with the companionship of a brother, Sammy; after
  graduating from Perryton High School, she attended the University
  of Hawaii and Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky; she
  subsequently transferred to West Texas State University, where she
  earned a degree in education, and in 1968, she moved to Miami to
  begin her teaching career; she taught various grades at Miami
  Elementary School for 30 years, until her retirement in 2003; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Ms. Thompson was a
  member of the Miami Independent School District board of trustees,
  and she also volunteered at the Tralee Crisis Center in Pampa; a
  woman of deep faith, she was a longtime member of First Christian
  Church in Miami, where she served on the board of directors; and
         WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Thompson enjoyed the love
  and support of her husband, Alan "Butch" Thompson, with whom she
  shared a rewarding marriage that spanned five decades; she was the
  proud mother of two children, Tandy and Brock, and with the passing
  years, she experienced the joy of welcoming into her family five
  grandchildren, Ty, Trent, Kathryn, Olivia, and Max; in her leisure
  hours, she delighted in hosting gatherings and playing bridge, but
  above all else, she treasured time spent with her loved ones; and
         WHEREAS, Kay Thompson led a caring and purposeful life, and
  her loss is keenly felt by all who were touched by her affection and
  friendship; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Kathryn Thompson
  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  husband, Butch Thompson; to her children, Tandy Diamond and her
  husband, Jason, and Brock Thompson and his wife, Berkley; to her
  grandchildren, Ty Thompson, Trent Thompson, Kathryn "Kate"
  Diamond, Olivia Diamond, and Max Diamond; to her brother, Sammy
  Judice, and his wife, Sandy; and to her other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kay
  Thompson.
