R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Judy Swafford, a valued member of the Grand Prairie |
|
community and a friend to many, passed away on October 29, 2020, at |
|
the age of 78; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Leroy and Marie Gipson, the former |
|
Judy Gipson was born in Fort Worth on November 29, 1941, and she |
|
grew up with the companionship of two siblings, June and Robert |
|
Leroy; after graduating from Poly High School, she went on to marry |
|
Jim Swafford in 1961, and the couple made their home in Grand |
|
Prairie; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Swafford and her husband shared a rewarding |
|
union that spanned nearly six decades, and they became the proud |
|
parents of two children, Robert and Renea; with the passing years, |
|
they were further blessed with two grandchildren, Jane Anne and |
|
Johnson Nolen, and two great-grandchildren, Graham and Colby; |
|
throughout her marriage, Mrs. Swafford dedicated herself to her |
|
home and her family, and she was ever supportive of her husband's |
|
professional and civic endeavors; and |
|
WHEREAS, An avid gardener, Mrs. Swafford gave generously of |
|
her time and expertise as a volunteer with the Dallas Arboretum for |
|
many years, and she delighted in spending time in her own English |
|
garden at home; she also counted golf among her favorite |
|
activities, and she enjoyed sharing her passion for the sport with |
|
her husband and other family members throughout her life; and |
|
WHEREAS, Judy Swafford possessed a generosity of spirit that |
|
expressed itself in myriad ways, and she enriched the lives of |
|
countless people with her warmth and kindness; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Judy Swafford and |
|
extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Judy |
|
Swafford. |
