R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Mary Ann Brown, who passed away on December 22, 2020, at the age |
|
of 81; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Elijah Brooks and Clifford Lee |
|
Waggoner, Mary Brown was born on August 12, 1939, and grew up in |
|
Terrell; a graduate of Burnett High School, she enjoyed a long |
|
career as a staff member at Terrell State Hospital, where she rose |
|
to the position of supervisor and became an inspiring mentor to many |
|
other employees; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Brown enjoyed the love |
|
and support of her husband, Robert, with whom she shared 61 years; |
|
she took great pride in being a mother to her children, Yolanda, |
|
Robert, and Yorey, and her stepdaughter, Wynona, and with the |
|
passing years, she had the pleasure of seeing her family grow to |
|
include nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; in |
|
addition to finding great joy in helping others, she delighted in |
|
cooking, gardening, and collecting crosses; a woman of strong |
|
religious conviction, she was a lifelong member of Bethlehem |
|
Baptist Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mary Brown lived a full and generous life dedicated |
|
to her family, her friends, and her faith, and she will forever hold |
|
a treasured place in the hearts of all who knew and loved her; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mary Ann Brown and |
|
extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her |
|
husband, Robert D. Brown Sr.; to her children, Yolanda Brown Lusk |
|
and her husband, Webster, Robert D. Brown Jr. and his wife, Beth, |
|
and Yorey Brown Sims; to her stepdaughter, Wynona McCann; to her |
|
brother, Bobby Brooks, and his wife, Minnie; to her grandchildren |
|
and great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and many |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary Brown. |
