R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close on June |
|
11, 2020, with the passing of Thomas Adedayo Ogungbire at the age of |
|
54; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Joseph and Sarah Ogungbire, Thomas |
|
Ogungbire was born in Ogbomosho, Nigeria, on November 13, 1965; he |
|
grew up in a small village with his brothers and sisters and helped |
|
farm the region until the age of 13, when he went to live with his |
|
older brother in Lagos, Nigeria; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Ogungbire subsequently joined a traveling |
|
singing group, The Baptist Crusaders, where he met his future wife, |
|
Elizabeth Olufemi Babarinde; the couple married in Lagos in 1991 |
|
and became the proud parents of two sons, Olatunji and Ayodele; and |
|
WHEREAS, Seeking opportunities for a better life, |
|
Mr. Ogungbire moved to the United States with his family; he went on |
|
to become a correctional officer with the Texas Department of |
|
Criminal Justice, where he served for a decade until the time of his |
|
passing; and |
|
WHEREAS, A kind and generous man, Thomas Ogungbire is deeply |
|
missed, and those who held him dear will forever remember the joy |
|
and love he brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Thomas Adedayo |
|
Ogungbire and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his |
|
passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Thomas |
|
Ogungbire. |
