R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt by
  the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Edelmiro Garza Jr.
  of the McAllen Police Department, who was killed in the line of duty
  on July 11, 2020, at the age of 45; and
         WHEREAS, Born to Edelmiro and Soledad Garza in McAllen, Eddie
  Garza grew up sharing in the companionship of his four sisters,
  Gloria, Mariella, Patricia, and Dulce; after graduating from
  McAllen High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served
  as a military police officer for four years; he continued his law
  enforcement career with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office; and
         WHEREAS, In 2005, Officer Garza returned to McAllen, where he
  later joined the police department as a dispatcher, a position he
  held for six years; he then transferred to the McAllen Police
  Academy and began his nine-year tenure as a law enforcement
  officer; while employed by the McAllen PD, he also completed his
  bachelor's and master's degrees; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Officer Garza drew strength
  from the rewarding marriage he shared with his wife, Brenda, and he
  took great pride in his children, Brianna, Ethan, Lucia, Andrea,
  Celeste, Edelmiro, Edel, and Alexandra, and his grandchild, Lucas;
  and
         WHEREAS, Eddie Garza was a respected peace officer and a
  devoted family man, and he leaves behind a legacy that will continue
  to inspire all those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Officer Edelmiro
  Garza Jr. and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his
  passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of the resolution be prepared
  for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives
  adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Eddie Garza.
