R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and enthusiasm drew to a close |
|
with the passing of Rhoberta Lakehomer Leeser of El Paso on November |
|
13, 2020, at the age of 89; and |
|
WHEREAS, The former Rhoberta Lakehomer was born on June 13, |
|
1931, to Jorge Lakehomer and Lillian Kesaler; she exchanged wedding |
|
vows with Arthur Leeser on July 14, 1950, in Chihuahua, Mexico, and |
|
they shared a rewarding marriage that spanned more than six and a |
|
half decades until his death in 2018; the couple became the devoted |
|
parents of seven children, George, Rose, Bonny, Oscar, Arthur, |
|
Lailah, and Nannette; later in life, Mrs. Leeser was blessed with |
|
13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, and she delighted in |
|
family gatherings; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Leeser lived in Chihuahua City for many years |
|
and taught at the National Autonomous University of Mexico before |
|
moving back to El Paso; there, she was a longtime employee of The |
|
Popular Dry Goods Company, and she enjoyed great success as a real |
|
estate agent, becoming a multimillion-dollar producer with The |
|
Advantage, Realtors, of which she was a founding partner; the |
|
mother of El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser, Mrs. Leeser was beloved by |
|
area residents for her appearances in television commercials for |
|
her son's auto dealership; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in this treasured |
|
woman's love and friendship will always remember her with great |
|
admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Rhoberta Lakehomer |
|
Leeser and extend deepest condolences to her relatives and friends; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rhoberta |
|
Leeser. |
