R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Gary G. Porras of El Paso on December 29, 2020; and
         WHEREAS, Gary Porras was born in Mexico in Camargo,
  Chihuahua, to Tito Porras and Soledad Yanez; as a young man, he
  immigrated to El Paso, where he made his home for the rest of his
  life; and
         WHEREAS, In 1969, Mr. Porras married Mireille Martinez and
  together they founded Garick Electric Company in 1977; now known as
  The Garick Group, Inc., the business flourished and today it is one
  of the largest subcontractors in the region; Mr. Porras continued
  to serve as chairman of the board until the time of his passing;
  additionally, he was involved with numerous boards and civic
  organizations, including the City of El Paso Plan Commission, the
  City of El Paso Civil Service Commission, and Thomason Hospital
  Board of Managers; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of a marriage that spanned 51 years,
  Mr. and Mrs. Porras were blessed with four children, Richard, Gary,
  Giselle, and Ruby, as well as nine grandchildren and a
  great-granddaughter; a devoted family man, Mr. Porras liked
  nothing better than spending time with his wife and children, and he
  enjoyed telling anyone who would listen about his grandchildren and
  great-grandchild; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for his kindness and strength of character,
  Gary Porras lived a life that was rich in personal and professional
  achievements, and he will forever be a source of inspiration to all
  who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Gary G. Porras and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Mireille Porras; to his children, Richard Porras and his
  wife, Regina, Gary Paul Porras and his wife, Cecilia, Giselle
  Aguayo and her husband, Christian, and Ruby Vasquez and her
  husband, Steve; to his grandchildren, Raina, Phillip, Genelle,
  Gregory, Itzel, Christian, Alondra, Noah, and Emmy; to his
  great-grandchild, Syrena; to his brothers and sisters, Sergio
  Porras, Tito Porras, Hortencia Wilson, Consuelo Arellano, Carolina
  Triolo, and Pilar Fellows; and to his other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House
  of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gary
  Porras.
