R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Ramiro Robles of El Paso on December 9, 2018, at the age |
|
of 85; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Jose Robles and Dolores Gonzalez Robles, |
|
Ramiro Robles was born on January 7, 1933, and grew up with three |
|
brothers, Carlos, Jose, and Eduardo, and a sister, Bertha; he |
|
attended Bowie High School in El Paso and went on to join the U.S. |
|
Air Force, serving his country during the Korean War; after leaving |
|
the military, he embarked on a successful career as a civilian |
|
employee with the transportation department at Fort Bliss; and |
|
WHEREAS, Valuing family above all else, Mr. Robles shared 64 |
|
years of marriage with his wife, Belen Borrego Robles, and he took |
|
great pride in his children, Mary Helen, Carlos Francisco, and |
|
Ramiro; with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his |
|
family grow to include 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed civic leader was a longtime member of |
|
the League of United Latin American Citizens, serving as national |
|
vice president for the Southwest for two terms and helping LULAC |
|
Councils No. 132 and No. 298 with educational and youth programs; a |
|
sports enthusiast, he loved following the New York Yankees and |
|
Dallas Cowboys, and he enjoyed traveling and playing golf; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Ramiro Robles is greatly missed, he has |
|
left his family and friends with many cherished memories, and he |
|
will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ramiro Robles and |
|
extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ramiro |
|
Robles. |
