R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Larry James York of Palmer on February 14, 2021, at the |
|
age of 74; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Dallas to James and Iva Jo York on November |
|
21, 1946, Larry York grew up in Grand Prairie with the companionship |
|
of his sister, Sandra; after graduating from Grand Prairie High |
|
School, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War as a |
|
steelworker; he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. York went on to enjoy a successful career in the |
|
oilfield, and he was employed by Dallas Area Rapid Transit; deeply |
|
dedicated to his community, he often purchased school supplies for |
|
teachers and students; in his leisure time, he delighted in telling |
|
stories, gardening, fishing, and building things; and |
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Mr. York cherished time spent |
|
with his loved ones, and he was the proud father of two daughters, |
|
Carrie and Heather; over the years, he had the pleasure of welcoming |
|
into his family five grandchildren, Quentin, Ty, Blake, Carston, |
|
and Karys; and |
|
WHEREAS, A caring and compassionate man, Larry York will be |
|
deeply missed, and those who held him dear will forever remember the |
|
warmth and kindness he brought into their lives; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Larry James York and |
|
extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his |
|
daughters, Carrie York and Heather Brown and her husband, Chad; to |
|
his grandchildren, Quentin Aldredge, Ty Aubrey, Blake Aubrey, |
|
Carston Brown, and Karys Brown; to his sister, Sandra Sramek; and to |
|
his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Larry York. |
