R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Trace Kinnard is retiring as mayor of Nevada, Texas, |
|
on May 4, 2021, drawing to a close a decade of exemplary service to |
|
his community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Kinnard joined the Nevada City Council in 2011 |
|
and he was elected mayor in 2016; during his tenure, he has ably |
|
guided the city with an eye to the future, and his knowledge and |
|
expertise in a wide range of community issues have earned him the |
|
respect of many people along the way; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mayor Kinnard has also served as a member of the |
|
Garland Fire Department for more than a quarter century; he joined |
|
the department as a firefighter in 1995, and he has served as a |
|
paramedic and driver and as inspector for the Garland Fire |
|
Marshal's Office; and |
|
WHEREAS, A proud veteran, Mr. Kinnard served for four years |
|
in the U.S. Navy before enlisting in the Navy Reserve; he |
|
transitioned to the Texas Army National Guard in 2003 and retired in |
|
2010 with two decades of service as the platoon sergeant of the |
|
Medical Platoon 3-124 Cavalry Regiment in Wylie; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mayor Kinnard enjoys the love |
|
and support of his wife of 18 years, Laurie, and their three |
|
children and grandson; and |
|
WHEREAS, Trace Kinnard has demonstrated a strong commitment |
|
to the residents of Nevada, and his desire to serve others and work |
|
toward the greater good has set an inspiring example of civic |
|
leadership; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Trace Kinnard on his retirement as |
|
mayor of Nevada and extend to him sincere best wishes for the |
|
future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mayor Kinnard as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
