R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
  death of retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Herbert Lenvil
  Critser of Midlothian on December 15, 2020, at the age of 92; and
         WHEREAS, Herb Critser was born in Miller, Missouri, on
  September 10, 1928, to Vernon and Irma Critser, and he grew up with
  three siblings, Glenn, Dorthy, and Bettye; he was educated in a
  one-room schoolhouse that was built by his great-grandfather, and
  he graduated from high school in Keenesburg, Colorado; and
         WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Critser
  enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1948, at the age of 19, and over
  the course of his 20-year military career, he served his country
  through the conflicts of the Cold War, the Korean War, and the
  Vietnam War; he flew a wide variety of aircraft, including B-25 and
  B-29 bombers and KC-97 and C-141 military transport planes, and had
  participated in 33 missions into Vietnam before retiring in 1968 at
  the rank of master sergeant; his military awards included the Air
  Force Commendation Medal, the Outstanding Unit Award, the National
  Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal; and
         WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Critser settled in
  New York, where he was employed by Celanese America and later by
  Virginia Chemicals, which relocated to Dallas; continuing with the
  company, Mr. Critser moved with his family to Midlothian in 1976,
  and he retired in 1984; he cofounded the Fujikoki America company in
  Dallas, where he worked until retiring again in 1996; skilled at
  repairing and building mechanical items, he was also a prolific
  inventor and the designer of rain barrel and garden irrigation
  systems, an automobile timing light, and an attic stairs insulation
  unit; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Critser and his wife, Antoinette, shared a
  rewarding marriage that spanned 58 years, and they were blessed
  with two children, Vernon and Kathy Jo, and three granddaughters,
  Tamra, Monika, and Emily; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for his courage, patriotism, and strong work
  ethic, Herb Critser leaves behind a record of service that his loved
  ones can remember with pride; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Herbert Lenvil
  Critser and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Herb
  Critser.
