R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Waxahachie High School Cherokee Charmers
  precision dance and drill team earned great distinction with its
  outstanding performances over the course of the 2020-2021 school
  year; and
         WHEREAS, Since the establishment of the group nearly six
  decades ago, the Waxahachie Cherokee Charmers have been admired for
  their dedication, discipline, and strong work ethic; the team
  performs at football and basketball games, pep rallies, civic
  events, and competitions, and the members are engaged in community
  service work and are active in a number of school organizations; and
         WHEREAS, The Cherokee Charmers collected multiple Officer
  and Elite Team accolades as well as Gussie Nell Davis Awards of
  Excellence in each of their four competition events; they began
  with a successful showing at the DFW Dance Championship and brought
  home the Elite Team and Medium Division championship trophies from
  both the Galveston Island Festival and the Metroplex Dance
  Spectacular; the team ended its year at the 2021 American
  Dance/Drill Team Nationals in Arlington on March 27, winning the
  Medium Division Officer Hip-Hop and Elite Team Division Pom crowns;
  and
         WHEREAS, Excelling with a true team effort, the Charmers were
  led by officer and captain Ellinor Bearden and officers Victoria
  Borders, Emma Moses, Alexis Burchfield, and Somer Clark, with
  valuable contributions being provided by the other members of the
  roster: Kendalyn Harrison, Alicia Lacy, Chantelle Lemons, Destinee
  Lowens, Cecilia Montelongo, Paris Hendricks, Tracy Jordan, Sadi
  O'Barr, Loida Perez, Hayleigh Ruiz, Amy Ceron, Sieana Coger, Emma
  Davis, Elaina Garcia, Keziah Hanna, Shanyia Johnson, Mackenzie
  Mills, Lavender Patterson, Hannah Ridgway, Celeste Rivera,
  Bayleigh Zeis, Janyce Brians, Avianna Castillo, Madeleine Dunn,
  Taylor Lister, Alexia Pruitt, Lauryen Seay, Victoria Slate, Jakera
  Steele, and Cidney Velazquez; these talented performers were ably
  guided by director Erica Pointer-Wilcox and assistant director
  Jessica Ramirez; and
         WHEREAS, Through hard work and an unwavering resolve to give
  their very best, the Waxahachie Cherokee Charmers have earned the
  admiration of their fellow students and their many community
  supporters, and they may indeed reflect with pride on their
  memorable accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Waxahachie High School
  Cherokee Charmers precision dance and drill team on its exceptional
  performances throughout the 2020-2021 school year and extend to all
  those associated with the team sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
