R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Ellis County Constable Terry Nay is retiring in
  2021, drawing to a close a notable career in law enforcement that
  has spanned nearly three decades; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Ellis County, Constable Nay learned the
  value of hard work growing up on his father's farm; after graduating
  from Waxahachie High School in 1988, he enrolled in the criminal
  justice program at Sam Houston State University in pursuit of his
  lifelong dream of a career in law enforcement; in his senior year,
  he attended the Peace Officer Licensing Academy at Clint Peoples
  Training Academy in Conroe; and
         WHEREAS, In his last semester of college, Constable Nay began
  his career as a paid intern for the Brazos County Attorney's Office
  in Bryan, where he worked as an investigator, and after earning his
  bachelor's degree in law enforcement and police science from SHSU
  in 1993, he returned to Ellis County to serve for three years as a
  patrol deputy for the county sheriff's office; in 1995, he was
  elected as Ellis County constable for Precinct 2, and since he took
  his oath of office in January 1996, he has been reelected six times
  and served the citizens of the county with distinction for a quarter
  century; and
         WHEREAS, Constable Nay has amassed more than 3,000 hours of
  continuing education through the Texas Commission on Law
  Enforcement, and he is certified as a master peace officer, a law
  enforcement instructor, a marine enforcement officer, and a field
  training officer; he is also the owner of two small businesses in
  Ellis County; and
         WHEREAS, Constable Nay's dedication, integrity, and
  commitment to service have greatly benefited the citizens of Ellis
  County and earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, and
  he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he
  embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Ellis County Constable Terry Nay on
  his retirement and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Constable Nay as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
