R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Honorable Sarah Garrahan, a longtime Bexar
  County judge and a dear friend to many, passed away on March 26,
  2021, at the age of 84; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Stockdale on November 2, 1936, to Bird and
  Clara Wiley Rose, the former Sarah Rose grew up with the
  companionship of four siblings, Irene, Norman, Violet, and Joyce;
  she graduated as valedictorian of her class in high school, and
  shortly thereafter, she married Richard M. Garrahan and moved to
  San Antonio; she went on to raise three children, Judye, Valerie,
  and Donald, and while balancing the responsibilities of motherhood,
  she continued her studies and became a member of the first
  graduating class at The University of Texas at San Antonio in 1977;
  and
         WHEREAS, Judge Garrahan subsequently enrolled at St. Mary's
  University School of Law, obtaining her juris doctorate, and was
  licensed with the State Bar of Texas in 1981; she worked for a time
  as a federal attorney for the Federal Bureau of Investigation,
  serving on the prosecution team for the trial for the murder of U.S.
  District Judge John H. Wood Jr.; in 1986, she won election to her
  first term as judge of County Court at Law No. 4, and she held the
  position for more than three decades, often running unopposed; she
  retired from the bench in 2014 but continued to serve as a visiting
  judge for several years; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her three children, Judge Garrahan
  was blessed with the love and support of three grandchildren,
  Kelly, Sarah, and Lindsey, and a great-grandson, Jalen; after the
  end of her first marriage, she shared a rewarding relationship with
  her second husband, John Moulder, who preceded her in death in 1994;
  and
         WHEREAS, Sarah Garrahan earned the respect and admiration of
  innumerable people over the course of her long career in public
  service, and her contributions to Bexar County will be remembered
  for years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Judge Sarah Garrahan
  and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  children, Judye Garrahan Mobley, Valerie Kim Garrahan Pisano, and
  Donald Rick Garrahan and his wife, Linda Hart Garrahan; to her
  children's father, Richard M. Garrahan; to her grandchildren, Kelly
  Wilson and her husband, Alan, Sarah Lynn Garrahan, and Lindsey
  Mobley; to her great-grandson, Jalen Wilson; to her siblings, Irene
  Gage, Norman Kallies, and Violet Glover; and to her other relatives
  and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Judge Sarah
  Garrahan.
