R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Captain Reginald Dewayne Williams of Dallas |
|
Fire-Rescue passed away on April 5, 2021, at the age of 55, bringing |
|
a profound loss to his family, his colleagues, and his community; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Henry Williams and Reba Pikes, Reginald |
|
Williams was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on June 14, 1965; he |
|
graduated from Green Oaks High School and went on to earn a |
|
bachelor's degree in computer science from Grambling State |
|
University in 1987; while in college, he joined Alpha Phi Alpha |
|
Fraternity, and he remained active in the organization until the |
|
time of his passing; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Williams began his career with Dallas |
|
Fire-Rescue in 1992, and over the course of his nearly three decades |
|
with the department, he rose to the rank of captain; in recognition |
|
of his exceptional dedication and courage, he was honored with the |
|
Medal of Valor from the Dallas Black Fire Fighters Association in |
|
2000; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Captain Williams enjoyed the |
|
love and support of his wife, Canefa, with whom he shared a |
|
rewarding union that spanned 29 years, and he took great pride in |
|
his two daughters, April and Amber; moreover, he was a valued |
|
congregant of Friendship-West Baptist Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Reginald Williams was a devoted family man and a |
|
significant asset to his community, and his commitment to his loved |
|
ones and to the citizens of Dallas will be remembered and admired |
|
for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Captain Reginald |
|
Dewayne Williams and extend sincere condolences to his relatives |
|
and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Captain |
|
Reginald Williams. |
