R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
  a close with the passing of Dr. Edwin Earl Favors of Dallas on April
  5, 2021, at the age of 46; and
         WHEREAS, Born on February 26, 1975, Edwin Favors was the son
  of Debra Hall and her husband, Jerry, and Marvis Favors and his
  wife, Pat, and he was the brother of two sisters, Lorieann and
  NiKeisha; at the age of 13, he began teaching youth at Faithful
  Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas; he earned his bachelor's
  degree at Howard Payne University, and while in Brownwood, he
  worked as a disc jockey at a Christian music station, taught music
  and chorus at Brownwood Intermediate School, and served as minister
  of music for Living Word Church and Greater Faith Community Church,
  where he became senior associate pastor; moreover, he traveled the
  world with the Howard Payne A Cappella Choir and Heritage Singers;
  and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Favors returned to Dallas in 2000 and served at
  his home church while teaching music, choir, and seventh-grade
  reading in the DeSoto Independent School District; following two
  years in full-time ministry, he taught at Clay Academy and then
  rejoined DeSoto ISD as a director of general and choral music
  activities; he went on to fill a similar role at Seagoville and
  Billy Earl Dade Middle Schools in Dallas ISD; in 2002, he
  established Praise Fellowship Church, and he was also the founder
  of Switching Systems Independent Ministries and Churches and
  oversaw the SALTT religious radio and television stations;
  furthermore, he was executive chef and CEO of Praise Fellowship
  Catering; he earned a master's degree in educational administration
  and a doctoral degree in organizational leadership from Grand
  Canyon University; in all his endeavors, he was supported by the
  love and encouragement of his wife, Pastor Ellyn Nicole Neal
  Favors; he was preceded in death by their daughter, Ellysabeth; and
         WHEREAS, Although Edwin Favors is deeply missed, memories of
  his great devotion to his family and his faith remain to comfort and
  inspire those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. Edwin Earl Favors
  and extend sincere sympathy to his loved ones; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Edwin
  Earl Favors.
