R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Zach Casias of Lubbock High School reached the
  pinnacle of success by winning the 5A state championship in the
  120-pound weight division at the 2021 University Interscholastic
  League Wrestling State Tournament, held in Cypress on April 23; and
         WHEREAS, Following a runner-up finish in the 106-pound
  division at the 2020 state meet as a sophomore, Mr. Casias returned
  in top form for his junior year; he went undefeated in the regular
  season and bested each of his opponents at the Region 1-5A
  championship to return to the state competition; after a
  first-round bye, he opened the tournament by besting wrestlers from
  Cedar Park and Burleson Centennial High Schools to advance to the
  finals; and
         WHEREAS, The title contest turned out to be a rematch of the
  regional championship showdown, in which Mr. Casias defeated
  Randall High School's Aidan Medina in overtime; with the state
  crown on the line, Mr. Casias downed his rival 6-2 and claimed the
  5A title; in so doing, he became the first wrestler from Lubbock
  High School to finish the season with a perfect record; and
         WHEREAS, By triumphing in the state's premier showcase for
  high school wrestlers, Zach Casias has realized a well-deserved
  reward for his countless hours of hard work, and he has become a
  source of tremendous pride for his school and community; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Zach Casias on winning the 2021 UIL
  5A wrestling state championship in the 120-pound division and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Casias as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
