R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Vidal Castillo of San Antonio on April 13, 2019, at the |
|
age of 87; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Vidal Castillo and Rosa Cervera Castillo, |
|
Vidal Castillo was born in San Antonio on March 28, 1932; he grew up |
|
on the Westside with five siblings, Isabel, Esequiel, Richard, |
|
Victor, and Elia; while attending Lanier High School, he enlisted |
|
in the United States Air Force; he married his high school |
|
sweetheart, Gloria Salas, in April 1951, before heading off to boot |
|
camp; his reserve unit was called up in 1967, and he proudly served |
|
with the 34th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron during the Vietnam |
|
War; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Castillos raised three treasured children, |
|
Orlando, Gabriel, and Rene, and mourned the loss of an infant |
|
daughter, Gloria Ann; through the years, Mr. Castillo shared many |
|
precious moments with a large circle of loved ones that grew to |
|
include 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and |
|
nephews, and close friends whom he regarded as family members; and |
|
WHEREAS, For 35 years, Mr. Castillo was employed by the |
|
United States Postal Service, and he was a card-carrying member of |
|
the National Association of Letter Carriers; following his |
|
retirement, he and his wife explored the country in their RV and |
|
traveled internationally to visit friends and relatives in Europe |
|
and Japan; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Vidal Castillo is greatly missed, he has |
|
left his loved ones with a wealth of memories that they will forever |
|
cherish; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Vidal Castillo and |
|
extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Vidal |
|
Castillo. |
