R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Baron Williams Corbitt
  Truitt of Dalhart were deeply saddened by his death on December 10,
  2020, at the age of 71; and
         WHEREAS, Baron Truitt was born to Eleanor Griffith in
  Sheridan, Wyoming, on May 26, 1949, and he grew up with the
  companionship of a sister, Marilyn; following his high school
  graduation, he moved to California to pursue songwriting and
  performing, and he later attended the University of Nebraska and
  South Dakota State University, as well as seminary in the Greek
  Orthodox Church; answering his nation's call to duty, he was
  drafted into the United States Air Force and served during the
  Vietnam War; and
         WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Truitt eventually
  made his home in Dalhart and joined the Texas Department of Criminal
  Justice, where he worked for a decade until his retirement; he went
  on to enjoy a career as a science teacher at Dalhart High School
  that spanned eight years, and he cared deeply for his students;
  possessed of a compassionate and generous nature, he went out of his
  way to help individuals experiencing homelessness; he also had a
  profound appreciation for the stars and sky, as well as all living
  things; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Truitt benefited from the
  love and support of his wife, Loretta, and he took great pride in
  his children, Corwin and Angela, as well as his stepchildren, James
  and Joy; with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his
  family grow to include five step-grandchildren and seven
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Baron Truitt lived a rich and purposeful life, and
  he will forever be remembered with great affection by all those who
  held him close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Baron Williams
  Corbitt Truitt and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Loretta Inman Truitt; to his mother, Eleanor
  Griffith; to his son, Corwin Truitt; to his daughter, Angela
  Truitt; to his stepson, James Heidingsfelder and his wife, Danelle;
  to his stepdaughter, Joy Meeves; to his step-grandchildren, AJ,
  Brittany, KC, Dillon, and Lindsey; to his great-grandchildren; to
  his sister, Marilyn Husman; to his sisters-in-law, Darlene Randall
  and Wanda Harshberger; to his brother-in-law, Roland Inman; and to
  his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Baron
  Truitt.
