R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The passing of Ollie Pearl Chandler of Amarillo on |
|
April 12, 2021, at the age of 80, has deeply saddened her loving |
|
family and the many other individuals whose lives she touched; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Denver City, Texas, Ollie Chandler was |
|
born on December 12, 1940, to Marion Allen Linn and Billie Idabel |
|
Mayben, and she grew up with the companionship of three siblings, |
|
Kay, Marian, and Art; while in high school, she met the love of her |
|
life, Winston Chandler, with whom she went on to share nearly 63 |
|
years of marriage; the couple devotedly raised three children, |
|
Winston, Wesley, and Tonya; and |
|
WHEREAS, From 1968 to 1995, Mrs. Chandler and her husband |
|
worked for Cal Farley's Boy's Ranch, a residential community for |
|
at-risk children and teenagers located northwest of Amarillo; |
|
naturally caring and nurturing, Mrs. Chandler became a mother |
|
figure to many of the boys she supervised in those 27 years; after |
|
leaving Boy's Ranch, she continued her work with children as a |
|
teacher's assistant in a special needs classroom in the Claude |
|
Independent School District until her retirement; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Chandler's cherished family grew to include |
|
six grandchildren, Heather, Colby, Colin, Kacy, Hunter, and Ethan, |
|
and six great-grandchildren, Bentley, Paxton, Rylen, Adalae, |
|
Hattie Pearl, and Boone; her talents as a cook were greatly |
|
appreciated by her loved ones, who especially enjoyed her famous |
|
fried chicken, and she always delighted in entertaining and hosting |
|
large gatherings; deeply devoted to her faith, she was a member of |
|
Paramount Baptist Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ollie Chandler was a blessing in the lives of |
|
countless people during her journey on this earth, and those who |
|
were privileged to share in the love and friendship of this gracious |
|
woman will forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ollie Pearl |
|
Chandler and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: |
|
to her husband, Winston Chandler; to her children, Paul Chandler |
|
and his wife, Holly, Wesley Chandler and his wife, Linda, and Tonya |
|
Cox; to her grandchildren, Heather Blancet and her husband, Brice, |
|
Colby Chandler and his wife, Kaysee, Colin Chandler and his wife, |
|
Kelsey, Kacy Chandler, Hunter Cox and his wife, Kathleen, and Ethan |
|
Chandler and his wife, Suzie; to her great-grandchildren, Bentley, |
|
Paxton, Rylen, Adalae, Hattie Pearl, and Boone; to her nieces and |
|
nephews; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ollie |
|
Chandler. |
